Working at home, I miss the conversations with colleagues, chats with people who pass by, hearing about the news and latest technological developments at the coffee table. Skype, MSN, e-mail can hardly replace this.

This is one of the reasons to subscribe to the conference Le Web 3, 11-12 December in Paris. Not far from home, a possibility to meet new people. I don't think I would have chosen this conference from the title and the first look at the program, which seems quite broad. At least the list of participants show a variety of companies and also a lot of French people. We'll see how it is.... !

Knowing Knowledge

George Siemens wrote a book "Knowing Knowledge". You can download or buy it, discuss it and even help (in the wiki) to re-write it. Of course, it deals with knowledge. From the Preface:

This book seeks to tackle knowledge - not to provide a definition - but to provide a way of seeing trends developing in the world today.

It is my hope that this book will not be seen as a product, but rather an invitation to dialogue and debate.

I only started reading today, finished the Preface and it seems like an interesting piece! There are two sections:
1. An exploration of theoretical views of knowing and learning
2. Changes and implication - Moving toward application.
