Olaf Brugman raises an interesting point when he writes:

Personality traits and personal attitudes have hardly been studied as critical success factors in knowledge management. Therefore, my suggestion is to put individual characteristics on the KM research agenda.
I agree that reasons for not sharing information can be often found in the personality of individuals. The problem is: there is not much you can do to change personality. What you can (try to ) change is the behaviour of those individuals, and maybe their norms. So that should be our focus.
So, yes, I agree we sometimes have to deal with personality, but I don't think it should be put on the research agenda, for the reason that you cannot change personality.
